Corneal Abrasion

Last night I was planning to get caught up on posts but I hung out in the ER waiting room instead.
I poked my eye with a dried floral bouquet around 6pm, right before company came over for dinner. My eye was in pain, red and watering all evening but we had a great visit again with the Johnsons!
I went in to ER at 11pm, home by 1am, and this is what I learned:
"A corneal abrasion is a scratch to the clear layer that covers the eye...generally associated with a lot of pain. The cornea is one of the most pain sensitive tissues in our body...deaper or larger scratches [which I have] may take a few weeks to heal."
I have antibiotics and numbing stuff to put on my eye, but the numbing stuff is supposed to be used minimally as it can actually damage your eye, so I have to put up with a little bit of pain still and blurry vision.
I should be working today but since it gives me a headache to try to focus on words and look at the computer, I'll have fun doing some posts instead. ;-)

Oh no! I'm sorry....is there anything I can do? I'll be praying. Love.

Yikes! Sounds painful! Maybe a nap will help :-)

Ooohhh, I remember how painful that is! I had that happen in middle school PE when I bent down to pick up a baseball in waist-high grass...a blade of grass just sliced straight across my eye. Lucky for you the dr. skipped the eye patch I had to wear! An oh-so-popular look in middle school! :-)

I wish I had the eye patch. I'd be a cool mom! My son would think I'm a pirate. And I wonder if it would help the pain. When I was a kid (probably junior high also but during the summer) I got a splinter stuck in my eye while swinging. ER had to send me to an eye specialist who "drilled" the splinter out. I wore an eye patch for awhile but I don't remember it hurting like this!
