Why do we love hosting exchange students?
We get to meet wonderful families from all over the world!
I enjoy learning about this big world we live in...it's a small world, after all

Today we had a surprise visit from a family from Norway. (above, Bottom Right) Their son, Even (on left, by Tyler), will be going to Gladstone High School this year. They are vacationing in California and decided to drive up to Oregon to meet the host family Even will be staying with, the coordinator, Gayle, who spends a lot of time with the students she places in her region and Even's soccer coach and family (us), who will hopefully get to spend a lot of time with him also!
Other reasons we, and you would, enjoy hosting an exchange student:
1. Great memories.
Gui, from Brazil, stayed with us February-June 2006,
he went to Kevin & Reshma's wedding and held my sister's new baby before going home as a new uncle to hold his sister's new baby.
2. Someone to throw snowballs at...or go to the Mt. with if you enjoy snow sports.3. Fun times hanging out at home, shooting pool, or just talking.
4. Sharing family traditions, outings, vacations and experiences with someone new. Pierre (Peter), from France, stayed with us July-August 2006,
he arrived just in time to go camping with us at Frog Lake.
5. Another person to take pictures-great for me since I'm always the one behind the camera.
6. A helping hand.
7. Someone your kids can look up to.
9. Babysitting...and did I mention cheap labor? ;-) Markus, from Germany, stayed with us April-June 2008,
he was a big help when we needed it and made everything more fun.

10. An excuse to have a family picture taken.
11. Eat delicious food from their homeland, that is if they know how to cook.

12. Gifts from around the world! :-)
Havaianas from Brazil.
Chocolate from Germany...Yummy!!
Need I say more?
We look forward to hosting a girl this year! We are excited for the arrival of Sandra, from Denmark, on August 28th. :-)
