I have not been online for a few days so tonight I am reading and enjoying everyone's Valentine posts! It's interesting to hear how it is celebrated, or not.
Tyler and I don't celebrate it. We prefer spontaneity and the unexpected. But when you have kids, you have to start buying cards and candy! Dom had to sign & stuff 38 cards and Bri did 50 (for school and church). Thank goodness for 3-letter nicknames and the dollar store!
On Valentine's, Ty came home from work with cards and treats for the kids and a rose for me. Brianna saw the rose and said "is that for me papa!" I told her it was mama's and I put it in a vase in the kitchen so we could both enjoy it. Later I found it on her dresser in her room! She told me today, she hopes it lasts forever.
Speaking of love and forever....Unconditional Love. I was recently reminded of this pure love by my son. A few times, out of the blue, Dom has told me "Mom, I love you because you are my mom." At first I just thought, how sweet, but I've begun to realize how perfect that statement is.
Today I let Dom play games on my computer and he said, "I love you."
I tested him and said "do you love me because I'm letting you play computer games?"
In complete child-like innocence, he said "no, I love you because you are my mom!"
To end this Valentine recap I'd like to say,
Tyler, I love you because you are my husband!
(I would insert a picture of my wonderful husband here because pictures say a thousand words, but that would defeat the purpose of this simple, honest statement, and the Add image button is not working.)

Such a great post Kari. Dominick is wise beyond his years and such a gem. If there is one thing I know about your kids its that they LOVE their mama :) Xoxo...Resh.
Boston is claiming my flowers too :-) Glad to hear you had a good day!
Through the mouth of babes! How sweet and smart is he?!? Super!
What a good mom you are, Kari. It showes through the mouths of your children.
Love you lots.
